The Office ofDiversity, Equity, andInclusion(ODEI), is a busy and productive national team engaged in driving awareness about AARP to multicultural audiences (African-American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, Asian-American/Pacific Islander, American Indian/Alaskan Native, LGBTQ+, disability).
The MulticulturalAudience Strategy Managerassists in implementing the Office ofDiversityEquity andInclusion’s (DEI) priorities of fulfilling our Social Mission for members and non-members, increasing relevant engagements to growdiversemembership, addressing age discrimination challenges faced by older individuals, and working to ensure the organization is a model DEI organization.
Responsibilities
Supports the development of relevant initiatives, projects, and resources that engagediversecommunities within the organization’s program and services. Works to build awareness and familiarity of the organization with prospective members and to share the social mission with the public, specifically for people of color, people who identify as LGBTQ+, women, and people with disabilities.
Integrates work across each of the multicultural audience teams to assist in planning and executing ODEI strategic priorities.
Consults with the organization’s business units to strengthen organization-wide engagement withdiversecommunities.
Manages national partnerships to connect the organization’s resources,advocacy, programming, and services todiversecommunities, as well as to establish internal partnerships with the national partners.
Executes against a wide range of the departmental and group Strategic Plans, developing strong cross-functional skills to deliver against key aspects of Tactic Plans.
Manages multiple stakeholders regarding project deliverables and demonstrates the ability to juggle several concurrent projects at different stages of execution/approval.
Liaises with the Group Operations team to ensure timely and accurate departmental operations. Manages departmental procurement processes, budget tracking, and reporting.
Reports to the assigned Vice President of Audience Strategy.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience understanding the nuances of communicating with and working on behalf of people with disabilities (PwD) and/or the LGBTQ+ community.
Experience working with social mission organizations, spokespersons, and experts focused on PwD and/or LGBTQ+ audiences.
Experience in marketing programs and content on digital and social platforms, as well as experience planning and executing in-person and virtual events.
Preferred:
Familiarity with American Sign Language.
