Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Associate Vice President (AVP) for Development provides strategic direction, operations oversight, and leadership to Boise State’s development efforts. The AVP is responsible for key development staff and college/unit development directors. They will implement the Foundation’s strategic development framework, set goals for development staff, and oversee fundraising operations. This position reports to the Foundation’s CEO and collaborates with university and foundation leaders, college deans, department chairs, faculty, and volunteers.
This is an internal opportunity open only to current, benefit-eligible employees of Boise State University.

The Boise State University Foundation, established in 1964, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to securing philanthropic support for Boise State University. We develop relationships with alumni and friends, steward gifts, and work closely with university leadership, alumni, and athletic associations.

Level Scope:
The AVP leads departments or major areas within the division, providing strategic leadership, managing budgets, and making independent decisions to meet objectives.
Essential Functions:
The AVP will:
Lead and motivate Foundation staff in fundraising and development activities.
Create a philanthropic culture within the Foundation and university.
Work with deans and development teams to set and monitor goals, establish metrics, conduct prospect meetings, and assess progress.
Maintain a prospect portfolio, cultivating and soliciting major gifts.
Collaborate with the Foundation Board, university partners, and volunteers on initiatives to promote philanthropy.
Additional duties may include other responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Expertise in prospect management, major gift fundraising, and advancement services.
Proven success in raising major gifts and managing donor relationships.
Experience leading campaigns and translating priorities into results.
Ability to build, motivate, and lead a team of fundraisers.
Excellent communication, organizational, and strategic planning skills.
Proficiency with database and fundraising software.
Ability to work under pressure, handle confidential information, and travel as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 10 years of experience, including 6 years in management.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in higher education fundraising is preferred.
