Associate Pastor Position Description – Bethel Bible Church

Position Summary
The purpose of the Associate Pastor is to serve the church body through equipping, overseeing, and shepherding. This position will work with and report to the lead pastor. The Associate Pastor will become an Elder and a member of the Church Council unless reasons to delay that appointment are mutually agreed upon during the hiring process. The ideal candidate is spiritually and theologically mature, skilled in mentoring, pastoral care, team-building, and strongly committed to gospel ministry within a local church context.
While this role involves joining the pastoral team in performing all duties as assigned, specific responsibilities include (% of time expected):
Family Ministry (70%)
Lead and equip Bethel to responsibly partner with and resource families in both integrated and age-specific ministries to achieve our mission.
Oversee and develop Bethel’s youth ministry and team, including teaching, planning, and coordinating youth activities personally and through the youth ministry team.
Oversee and develop children’s ministries, including mobilizing, coaching, and supervising leaders and volunteers.
Partner with an Elder and Music Team for ministry; other assignments may include teaching and preaching, outreach, small group ministry, and church community building, aligned with the Associate Pastor’s gifts and passions.
It is assumed that all pastors engage in continuing education, participate in small groups, and model servanthood beyond their specific job responsibilities.

Qualifications
Sufficient theological training and/or ministry experience, agreement with our Statement of Faith, excellent people skills, ability to teach God’s Word effectively, teamwork, and music ability to lead congregational singing.
