Job Description Summary

The Associate Director of Development for the College of Arts and Science will help advance Miami University’s mission by planning, organizing, and implementing strategies to increase both personal involvement and financial commitments from donors and prospects through its major gift program.

Job Description

This role involves working closely with university leadership and development teams to meet fundraising goals, engaging with alumni and friends, and managing prospect portfolios mainly focused on gifts of $50,000 and above. The position offers a hybrid remote work arrangement after a successful six-month probation period, with the understanding that such arrangements can be modified or revoked by the university at any time.

Key Responsibilities include:

Serving as a vital member of the development team, collaborating with the Assistant Vice President to meet strategic fundraising priorities.

Developing and executing strategies for prospect engagement, cultivation, and stewardship.

Conducting solicitation calls and meetings with alumni and prospects, including preparing proposals for major gifts and multi-year commitments.

Organizing campus visits and regional events to involve alumni and friends.

Managing special projects related to the college’s development efforts, including working with museums, advisory boards, and academic programs.

Performing other duties aligned with the Office of Development’s mission under the guidance of senior leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree.

At least three years of experience in fundraising, sales, business development, or similar fields (volunteer work included).

Preferred Qualifications:

Fundraising experience.

Experience in an educational setting.

Management experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Collaborative approach to fundraising.

Proven leadership abilities.

Willingness to travel extensively and attend evening and weekend events as scheduled.
