Role Description The Assistant Store Manager is a full-time, on-site role located in the Austin, Texas Metropolitan Area, supporting the daily operations of a Goodwill retail store. This role assists the Store Manager in leading team members, overseeing customer service, and ensuring an efficient, safe, and clean store environment. Responsibilities include supervising staff on the sales floor and in the backroom, supporting scheduling and task assignments, and helping train and coach team members to meet performance and service standards. The Assistant Store Manager monitors merchandising, inventory flow, and donation processing to maintain attractive displays and adequate stock levels. This role also helps manage cash handling procedures, supports adherence to policies and compliance requirements, and contributes to meeting sales and production goals aligned with Goodwill’s mission.
Qualifications

  • Experience in retail or customer service, with skills in team supervision, coaching, and providing excellent in-person service.
  • Operational skills in store management, including merchandising, inventory handling, donation processing, and maintaining a safe, organized work environment.
  • Ability to perform basic administrative and cash management tasks, such as opening/closing procedures, cash handling, and following established policies and guidelines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse team members and engage respectfully with customers and donors.
  • Demonstrated reliability, problem-solving ability, and capability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced retail setting.
