Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:
The duties of this position are completed in addition to regular Residential Support Staff responsibilities. Workdays and hours may vary depending on the needs of the home. Overtime may be required based on staffing and resident care needs.
Summary:
The person in this position assists the Residential Manager in overseeing the daily operation of the specialized adult foster care group home. The Assistant Supervisor is expected to be available to handle resident, home, or staffing issues during all “on‐call” hours. The weekly stipend includes premiums for Assistant Supervisor, On‐Call, and Records/Activities Coordinator duties.

The essential functions of this position include:
Standard Residential Support Staff Duties Persons Served
Ensure that residents are granted all rights and respect due them.
Help the residents create and maintain a comfortable, homelike environment.
Assist residents as needed in meeting their goals as outlined through the individual plan of service, including assistance with:
Social skills and community integration opportunities.
Grooming and hygiene needs, including bathing, toileting and dressing.
Daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning and laundry.
Transportation (providing and/or skills training) for appointments, skill building or community integration programs, and various activities.
Administration of medications and treatments.
Food preparation per individualized dietary needs.
Household and Documentation Requirements
Performing a variety of housekeeping duties, including cooking, cleaning and laundry.
Documentation on a variety of both paper and electronic forms, including medication and treatment administration sheets, daily logs, program data, progress notes, incident reports, and vehicle pre‐trip logs.
Assistant Supervisor Duties
Manage home, resident, and staffing issues in the absence of the Residential Manager.
Provide hands‐on training for new direct care staff to ensure proper procedures and expectations are met.
Schedule and coordinate transportation for resident medical appointments.
Track and order medications and treatments to ensure timely administration.
Review Medication Administration Records and report any discrepancies to the Residential Manager.
Monitor resident personal and EBT funds, ensuring proper documentation and use.
Track and analyze required data to support resident care and home operations.
Report staff performance concerns to the Residential Manager for further action.
Coordinate community outings and in‐home activities.
Conduct emergency drills.
Oversee monthly PR trainings.
Complete systems checks.
Inventory and order food and supplies.
Complete resident Clothing and Property inventories.
Home safety and maintenance checks.
Facilitate resident meetings.
Education/Talent Requirements:
A high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Valid Michigan driver’s license and driving record that is acceptable according to Pioneer Resources’ Policy.
The ability to attend initial and ongoing training, and monthly staff meetings. Most training will be conducted during regular business hours (Monday‐Friday, 8:00am‐5:00pm); however, some training may be necessary outside of regular business hours.
The ability to read and write English and the ability to comprehend written instructions and record information.
The capacity to work alone or in a team with intermittent supervision.
The ability to work respectfully and courteously with a wide variety of individuals.
Solid reasoning skills, including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Computer skills, including the use of email, word processing and spreadsheets.
Must pass all required background checks, physicals, and drug screens. If the background check reveals disqualifying information, employment shall be terminated unless the disqualifying information was successfully appealed as inaccurate, expunged or set aside.
Work Experience Requirements:
Experience working in a specialized residential group home, or other licensed, long‐term residential setting.
Supervisory experience is preferred, but training will be provided.
Travel:
Up to 25%. An agency vehicle is supplied. Travel may include driving or accompanying a person served to community appointments, meetings and community activities.
Travel is primarily local, although some out of county travel may be expected.
Work Environment:
This position works in close proximity to people. While the majority of working time is spent indoors in a residential environment or office, employees in this position may work outdoors in all seasons for short periods of time, e.g. assisting a resident into a vehicle, taking a resident on an outing, snow removal, etc.
Physical Demands of the Job:
Medium work. No more than 50 pounds with frequent lifting of objects weighting up to 25 pounds.
This employee must be able to move, lift, or otherwise assist residents with transfers in and out of vehicles, wheel chairs, beds, shower trolleys/chairs, and other furniture.
Must be able to provide personal care, and perform household cleaning duties.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Manual dexterity is required to prepare food, administer medications and treatments, and to record information in writing, or through use of a keyboard or similar device.
Must be able to perform emergency procedures and evacuations of the home or vehicle as required.
