Work Schedule and Hours
Normal office hours are Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but occasional evening, and weekend work is required to be successful in this position. Office hours may be adjusted to meet the working schedule of this position.

Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Donor Relations will design and execute consistent, creative, and high-quality experiences for the University’s donors that enrich and strengthen the donors’ relationship with the University.
Primary responsibilities include:
Stewardship events celebrating the impact of gifts to the University, including the annual scholarship brunch, signing ceremonies, and emergent opportunities aligned with major fundraising initiatives
Coordination of the Foundation Board to ensure a meaningful experience for each member, tailored to their unique connection to the University
Personal outreach to individual donors
Management of the gift agreement process, from conception to filing
Supervision of Donor Relations Coordinator, including oversight of the suite of annual reports sent to donors

Required Education/Experience/Skills
Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of experience in an advancement or fundraising office. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. One to three years of work related experience involving direct contact with donors.
Experience managing donor/customer relationships in a service driven industry.
Experience planning and executing short, medium, and long term objectives and strategies for meeting goals and allocating resources according to priorities.
Demonstrated high level writing skills.
Strong computer skills including above average competency on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills
Master’s degree preferred. Will also consider a Bachelor’s degree and equivalent experience with donor relations. The preferred candidate will have at least three years or more of increasingly responsible experience in University Advancement or Alumni work in units such as or similar to Donor relations or Alumni Relations. Prior experience in a higher education Advancement office is not required but would be a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to demonstrate creativity and innovative thinking on strategies and plans to engage and retain donors.
Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically.
Experience writing for senior level executives, nonprofit leaders, volunteers, etc. and professional interaction with external audiences.
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
Ability to cultivate and maintain donor relationships and connection to the University.
Proactively manages high-level multiple projects.
Experience with development of marketing materials for fundraising purposes.
Knowledge of Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge or similar tool.
