AMR Initiative Rwanda is a non-profit organization dedicated to combating antimicrobial resistance in Rwanda by promoting the responsible use of antimicrobials across human, animal, and environmental sectors, promoting research, and implementing appropriate infection prevention and control measures nationwide. The organization implements the One Health approach to prevent, mitigate, and control the spread of resistant microorganisms, while ensuring the availability of safe, effective, and high-quality antimicrobials, and promoting their prudent and rational use.
Role Description
We are seeking a highly creative, strategic, and multidisciplinary Assistant Director of Communication with strong graphic design skills and a deep understanding of the One Health approach. The ideal candidate will lead our communication strategies, visual branding, and public engagement efforts to drive awareness and action across the human, animal, and environmental health sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Communication Leadership:
Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies aligned with One Health principles.
Lead storytelling, media relations, and brand visibility initiatives across platforms.
Visual Design & Content Development:
Design high-impact visuals, infographics, reports, and promotional materials using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or Figma.
Translate complex technical information into accessible, engaging content.
Public Health & One Health Messaging:
Create and disseminate campaigns that address the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health.
Collaborate with scientific and technical teams to ensure accuracy and relevance of messaging.
Digital Media & Stakeholder Engagement:
Manage website content, newsletters, and social media channels.
Engage with partners, donors, and the public to promote program impact.
Team Leadership & Coordination:
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align messaging and branding.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Public Health, Graphic Design, or a related field.
At least 2 years of experience in a senior communication or creative design role, preferably in global health, One Health, or nonprofit sectors.
Proficiency in design tools (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Canva, Figma, etc.).
Strong understanding of the One Health approach and its relevance in health communication.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and lead teams.
