They are paid for from a variety of sources, including the Smithsonian endowment, revenue from our business activities, donations, grants, and contracts. Trust employees are not part of the civil service, nor does trust fund employment lead to Federal status. The salary ranges for trust positions are generally the same as for federal positions and in many cases trust and federal employees work side by side.

The National Museum of African American History and Culture is the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, history, and culture. It was established by Act of Congress in 2003, following decades of efforts to promote and highlight the contributions of African Americans.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) seeks an experienced individual to serve as the Program Director for Individual Giving. The incumbent will supervise staff to plan, direct, and coordinate fundraising strategies and activities for NMAAHC’s individual giving program, focusing on high-net-worth individuals. Responsibilities include prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship to ensure the individual giving team meets overall campaign, annual, and long-term revenue goals.
