Position Overview
The Assistant Director of Social Services provides direct services to homeless individuals, supervises Case Managers and interns, improves program performance, and collaborates with providers and policymakers to meet the needs of homeless individuals in Washington, DC.
Schedule
Flexible shifts available for morning (6:30 a.m.
– 2:30 p.m.), evening (10 a.m.
– 6 p.m.), or a combination.
Essential Functions
Assume primary responsibilities of Clinical Director during their absence, including management of operations, personnel, and department bills.
Oversee data collection and management, ensuring deadlines are met and reports are accurate.
Develop and implement policies and procedures for the Social Services program.
Oversee onboarding and training for staff and interns.
Lead case management for a large guest population, coordinating services and responding to crises.
Build trusting relationships with guests and facilitate referrals to services.
Promote a culture of dignity, respect, and safety for guests.
Supervise and support Case Managers and interns.
Evaluate and improve program performance, seeking expansion or change as needed.
Support volunteer activities and advocate for ending homelessness.
Participate in provider groups, coalitions, and policy work groups.
Competencies
Supervision and Program Management experience.
Knowledge of community resources in DC.
Ability to connect with vulnerable populations.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to maintain professional boundaries.
Commitment to ending homelessness; understanding systemic causes.
Spanish proficiency preferred.
