Position Overview: We are currently seeking a Quality Assurance Manager based in the USA. Reporting to the Director of Operations – Assurance, the primary objective of this position is to strengthen the quality, consistency, and integrity of RBA audit program outputs across assessment programs such as VAP (Validated Assessment Program), SVAP (Specialty Validated Assessment Program), and related due diligence tools. This role conducts quality review of audit reports, evaluates auditor performance through shadow audits and related quality controls, and supports quality improvement initiatives that enhance program effectiveness. Strong knowledge of audit protocols, sound judgment in interpreting requirements, and attention to detail are crucial. Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Report Quality Review: Conduct quality review of audit reports across RBA assessment programs, including VAP, SVAP, RMAP, and related programs, to ensure alignment with reporting requirements, audit protocols, and quality standards.
  • Finding Evaluation: Review findings, severity ratings, supporting evidence, and report narratives to identify errors, inconsistencies, weak logic, and protocol misalignment.
  • Report Approval and Tracking: Support report approval and release processes, and maintain accurate tracking of report review status, quality issues, and performance trends.
  • Shadow Audits: Conduct shadow audits and related quality oversight activities to evaluate auditor performance during onsite assessments, including methodology, professionalism, interviewing, documentation, timeliness, and ethics.
  • Performance Monitoring: Identify recurring quality gaps and auditor capability issues, and prepare quality summaries, shadow audit reports, and follow-up records.
  • Quality Improvement Projects: Manage and support initiatives relating to auditor calibration, training, process improvement, reporting consistency, and other audit quality enhancement work.
  • Program Support: Support related due diligence tools and quality processes, and other assigned program tasks.
  • Travel: Approximately 30% domestic and international travel for shadow audits, onsite quality activities, and occasional attendance at RBA events.
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as labor, human rights, public policy, international relations, business, environmental, health and safety, or a related discipline
  • Proven experience in CSR, ESG, social compliance, responsible sourcing, minerals due diligence, or related audit / assessment programs
  • Strong knowledge of audit methodology, including document review, worker interviews, site observations, evidence evaluation, and report writing.
  • Ability to assess the quality, accuracy, and defensibility of audit findings and reports.
  • Strong analytical skills, sound professional judgment, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and operate effectively in a remote or distributed work environment.
  • Strong written and spoken English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Proactive, self-motivated team player
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.

Experience Desired:

  • Experience in audit report quality review, audit oversight, assessment management, or similar quality assurance functions.
  • Familiarity with the RBA Code of Conduct and RBA audit programs such as VAP, SVAP, or related assessment frameworks.
  • Experience conducting or overseeing audits or shadow audits
  • Knowledge of labor, forced labor, environmental, health and safety, and ethics issues in global supply chains.
  • Familiarity with ILO conventions and practical application of labor laws and regulations in major manufacturing countries.
  • Experience supporting auditor training, calibration, scorecards, performance tracking, or quality improvement projects.
  • Experience contributing to process design, governance improvements, or due diligence tool implementation.
