Innovate! Inc. is seeking a highly experienced ArcGIS Enterprise Administrator to manage, maintain, secure, and optimize enterprise geospatial environments. This role will support the full lifecycle of ArcGIS Enterprise platforms, including installation, configuration, upgrades, monitoring, troubleshooting, backup and recovery, user administration, and operational support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer and maintain ArcGIS Enterprise environments, including Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Data Store, and supporting components.
  • Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and troubleshoot ArcGIS Enterprise software.
  • Manage federated servers, hosting servers, web adaptors, data stores, and enterprise geodatabases.
  • Configure and maintain users, groups, roles, privileges, licenses, and sharing settings.
  • Monitor system health, performance, capacity, logs, services, and infrastructure dependencies.
  • Develop and maintain backup, recovery, disaster-recovery, and system-continuity procedures.
  • Support high-availability, load-balanced, and distributed ArcGIS Enterprise architectures.
  • Publish, manage, optimize, and troubleshoot map, feature, image, geoprocessing, and other GIS services.
  • Manage connections to SQL Server, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, and enterprise geodatabases.
  • Support database registration, permissions, versioning, service accounts, and data-access configuration.
  • Coordinate with GIS architects, database administrators, cloud engineers, developers, cybersecurity staff, and project managers.
  • Support ArcGIS Enterprise deployments in on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
  • Configure authentication, authorization, certificates, HTTPS, identity-provider integration, and role-based access.
  • Support secure handling of sensitive or restricted geospatial data.
  • Implement and maintain system monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational dashboards.
  • Perform performance tuning and capacity planning for servers, services, databases, and storage.
  • Troubleshoot service failures, publishing issues, authentication problems, performance degradation, and system outages.
  • Support application deployments and integration with web GIS, dashboards, StoryMaps, Survey123, Field Maps, and custom applications.
  • Maintain development, test, staging, and production environments as required.
  • Support system migrations, consolidations, infrastructure changes, and modernization efforts.
  • Develop and maintain system architecture diagrams, configuration documentation, standard operating procedures, and administration guides.
  • Automate routine administration, monitoring, reporting, backup, and maintenance activities where practical.
  • Support incident, problem, change, and release-management processes.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to GIS developers, analysts, and end users.
  • Support knowledge transfer, administrator training, and transition activities.


REQUIRED SKILLS & TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

  • Advanced hands-on experience administering ArcGIS Enterprise.
  • Strong knowledge of Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Data Store, ArcGIS Web Adaptor, and ArcGIS Pro.
  • Experience installing, configuring, upgrading, patching, and troubleshooting ArcGIS Enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of ArcGIS Enterprise federation, hosting servers, distributed deployments, and service architecture.
  • Experience administering map services, feature services, geoprocessing services, image services, and hosted content.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise geodatabases and relational databases, including SQL Server and PostgreSQL/PostGIS.
  • Experience with user, group, role, privilege, license, and content administration.
  • Knowledge of authentication and identity-management technologies such as Active Directory, SAML, LDAP, or comparable enterprise identity providers.
  • Experience configuring HTTPS, certificates, secure communications, and access controls.
  • Strong understanding of backup, restore, disaster recovery, high availability, and business continuity.
  • Experience with system monitoring, ArcGIS logs, Windows or Linux administration, performance analysis, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting ArcGIS Enterprise in AWS, Microsoft Azure, or comparable cloud environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with virtual machines, networking, DNS, firewalls, load balancers, storage, and related infrastructure concepts.
  • Experience with Python, PowerShell, ArcGIS API for Python, or other scripting and automation tools.
  • Knowledge of GIS service publishing, data registration, caching, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity, vulnerability management, patch management, least privilege, and secure system administration.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps, CI/CD, configuration management, and controlled release processes.
  • Strong technical documentation and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with architects, developers, database administrators, infrastructure teams, and cybersecurity personnel.
  • Strong communication, organization, and customer-support skills.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Geography, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Master’s degree in GIS, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible GIS or information technology experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on ArcGIS Enterprise administration experience.
  • Demonstrated experience installing, configuring, upgrading, and maintaining ArcGIS Enterprise environments.
  • Experience supporting production enterprise GIS systems with multiple users, applications, and data sources.
  • Experience with enterprise databases, network infrastructure, security, backup and recovery, and system monitoring.
  • Experience supporting on-premises, cloud, or hybrid ArcGIS Enterprise deployments.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex GIS platform, service, authentication, database, and performance issues.
  • Experience developing system documentation, operational procedures, maintenance plans, and administrator guides.
  • Experience supporting public-sector, environmental, infrastructure, utility, or similarly complex enterprise environments preferred.
  • Experience working with Tribal Nations, Indigenous communities, cultural-resource programs, or organizations managing culturally sensitive or sovereignty-related information preferred.
  • Esri ArcGIS Enterprise, Microsoft, AWS, Azure, database, or comparable technical certifications preferred.
