Education and Experience
Associate’s Degree or higher in Business or Public Administration, Human Services, social/behavioral sciences, or related field, and one (1) year of volunteer experience in an animal shelter environment or two (2) years of program operations experience.
Licenses and Certificates
Valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License or equivalent from another state by time of appointment.
Job Responsibilities
Under general supervision, recruit, train, and oversee the El Paso Animal Services volunteer base to support the department’s lifesaving programming.
Plan, direct, and implement departmental volunteer programs, including designing recruiting campaigns, developing goals and policies, training volunteers, and recognizing volunteers. Administer the volunteer record management system.
Represent the department by providing technical support and guidance on volunteer program functions. Develop policies, assist with budget preparation, prepare reports, and serve as liaison to community organizations, media, and businesses.
Supervise personnel and volunteers by scheduling, instructing, appraising performance, and enforcing rules. Conduct interviews, recommend hiring or disciplinary actions, and support employee development.
