Duties
The member’s role with Farm to School of Park County will focus on facilitating access to nutritious food resources through programming. Responsibilities include engaging K-12 students througheducationprograms, implementing lessons connecting children with local farmers, and caretaking community farms and gardens that grow food for public school meal programs. Key community needs include:
Preserving rural lifestyles by promoting local agriculture and connecting residents with their food sources.
Building the next generation of farmers by engaging students in agriculturaleducation.
Advancing the health and well-being of residents by increasing access to nutritious food options.
This position is based in Livingston and requires travel between school and farm locations, involving 25% of time on instructional activities, 25% on cultivating farms and gardens, 25% on assisting with school meal programs, and 25% on administrative tasks. Transportation or mileage reimbursement for program activities will be provided as funding permits.
Qualifications
Essential Functions and responsibilities:
Assist with Farm to School and Ag in the Classroom activities.
Implement lesson plans that connect schools and local farmers.
Assist with maintenance and caretaking of community farms and gardens.
Promotionof local agriculture and healthy eating habits.
Assist withcommunity eventsand summer camps.
Attendance to mandatory trainings.
Participation in evaluation and reporting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required:
Ability to serve community members of different socioeconomic backgrounds.
Knowledge base of food systems and local agriculture is a plus.
Previous experience educating children and adults is a plus.
Positive attitudein all weather conditions.
Ability to adapt.
Understanding or willingness to learn about Agriculture in Montana.
Valid driver’s license.
