About Women’s Health Center of Maryland (WHCMD) Women’s Health Center of Maryland was founded in 2023 after Roe v. Wade was overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court, ending half a century of legal precedence protecting a person’s right to access legal abortion. Recognizing the need for more abortion clinics located in key access states like Maryland, WHCMD opened its doors in September 2023. We are a nonprofit, independent sexual and reproductive health clinic that offers medication and procedural abortion, annual exams, breast/chest and cervical cancer screenings, contraception, STI testing and treatment, and gender-affirming hormone therapy. Our mission is to provide reproductive health care that respects the autonomy, choices, and dignity of each patient we serve. WHCMD is in Mountain Maryland, less than five miles from the border of West Virginia.

Scope of Work The Women’s Health Center of Maryland is seeking a full-time APC to join our full-spectrum sexual and reproductive health clinic. Job Purpose/Nature of Work: Responsible for direct oversight of all clinical procedures and processes associated with abortion, gender-affirming and gynecological services and protocols to ensure safe, high-quality patient care while demonstrating the ability to respond swiftly, rationally, and decisively to emergencies or other complex situations.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Administrative Facilitates monthly clinical meetings to provide updates on standards of care, training, and peer chart reviews Prepares regular reports for compliance with National Abortion Federation and internal quality control Consults with Executive Director to reconcile and approve medical supplies expenses prior to payment Facilitates clinician and peer record evaluations per protocols, receives and implements constructive directives and makes procedure and policy recommendations to the Executive Director

Patient Care Ultrasound care for pregnancy confirmation, gestational age and abortion procedure guidance Provides medication abortion care Provides care to abortion patients before, during and after procedure including follow up Educates patients about preventive care, medical diagnosis, and use of prescribed medications and treatments Monitors, reviews, and provides follow up plan of care for all lab tests, pap smears, biopsies, and radiological tests ordered by WHCMD Orders appropriate tests, interprets results, and orders correct follow up Identifies, evaluates, and addresses disease prevention and health promotion Performs well person gynecological exams for patients of all ages Discusses and provides comprehensive family planning options Inserts long-acting reversible contraceptives including IUDs and implants Makes referrals to other health agencies to ensure continuity of care Rotates with nursing staff to take after hour calls

Personnel Management Supervises all medical assistants and nursing staff including interviews, training, performance reviews, credentialing and licensure verification, timesheet approval, and disciplinary actions Monitors performance of clinical abortion team

Clinical Supervises and implements clinical safety, quality assurance and infection control procedures to ensure CLIA, OSHA, and NAF compliance and appropriate management of infectious materials Performs narcotic supply inventory and maintains clinical facility stock Reviews current practice standards and makes recommendations to the medical director for changes and prepares revised practice standards upon approval Reviews and updates patient clinical form information

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements: Certified Nurse Midwife or Nurse Practitioner  Registered Nurse with current unencumbered Maryland license  Master’s, post-graduate, or doctorate degree from accredited CNM or NP program  Current certification by national certifying body (AMCB, AANC, AANPCB)

Current American Heart Association BLS and ALS for healthcare providers Experience in providing gynecological care Experience in provider gender affirming hormone therapy Prior experience with procedural abortion is strongly preferred. Candidates without direct experience who are committed to providing abortion care and demonstrate the ability to learn procedural skills will be trained upon hire Prescriptive authority and active DEA registration Ultrasound certificate for gestational age determination (can obtain upon hire) Completed a recognized IUC/IUD training course Excellent communication and rapport building skills Strong organizational and time management skills Strong teamwork and cooperation skills Good computer and keyboarding skills Excellent documentation skills Highly flexible and adaptable in fast-paced setting Ability to work flexible hours including days, evenings, afterhours, and/or weekends for special events

Clinical Schedule: Monday- Thursday 0800-1715 Friday 0800-1300
