Job Description
Parkway Church is an established, growing church in Pearland, Texas. Our vision andpurposeas a church is, “To be a community of faith that glorifies God by embracing His Word, impacting our circles with the Gospel, and empowering believers to make disciples of Jesus Christ.”
As God brings individuals and families to Parkway Church, it is our duty to proclaim biblical truth, nurture biblical community and engage in biblical mission, so that all will grow in their love for the Christ of Scripture and make disciples.
The Associate Pastor’s primary duty is to assist the Lead Pastor in this task, with a focus on the ministry of shepherding,education, and discipleship. This person will also share general pastoral and administrative duties that arise, and will need developed skills in teaching, administration, leading small groups, ministryeducationand pastoral counseling.
Position
This is a full-time, salaried position with a minimum of 28 hours in the office and 12-22 hours/week required outside the office in meetings and ministry.
Defined office hours will be set and followed, M-Thu 8:30-4:30pm, with the remaining hours flexible as needed.

Requirements
Must align with the pastoral qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
Must have 10+ years serving at a church with responsibilities that align with this current position.
Must be a strong team builder and recruiter.
Must have demonstrated strongeducationand teaching gifts.
Must be able to reach and connect with multi-generations.
Must be committed to making and growing disciples of Jesus Christ.
Must possess a servant’s heart and a professional/pastoral attitude.
Must be a self-starter, able to anticipate needs without much oversight, focus on the tasks at hand and efficient follow-through.
Must be able to carry out various administrative tasks associated with the position.
Preferred
MACE or higher from like-minded seminary.
Must have strongcommunicationabilities, both written and oral.
Responsibilities
Strategy
To reach and connect with multi-generational adults and families with the primarypurposeof helping them grow in Christ-likeness.
Support the Lead Pastor in planning and implementing vision and ministry.
Give oversight andleadershipto all areas of adult discipleship (Life Groups, Men, Women, etc).
Prepare strategies that provide pathways for connecting people with small groups and small group multiplication.
Work with Children’s and StudentLeadershipto maintain and grow a vertically aligned strategy of discipleship.
Maintain a disciplined life of worship, Bible reading, prayer, and tithing.
Leadership development
Invest in the development, growth, and training of life group leaders through training, one-on-one, and group development.
Provide pastoral care and build an environment of community for and with lay leaders in the areas of Adult Discipleship.
Develop a plan for communicating strategies, events, and opportunities withleadership.
Assist ministry leaders when necessary.
Organizational administration
Collaborate with paid and layleadershipto ensure the continued health of disciples groups.
Use organizational tools to provide confidence in the preparation and execution of ministry action items.
Attend staff meetings, retreats, and other church functions, as directed.
