Position: Â Adult Basic Education Instructor (Youth and Adult)
The Adult BasicEducationinstructor works with youth and adults to help students earn their high school diploma and assist them with achieving their life goals. ACYR’s instructors use standards-based and trauma informed instruction to guide students toward post-secondaryeducationand career pathways.
Adult BasicEducationinstructors must be able to work with students both face-to-face and virtually, adapt classes to classroom/student needs, and work as a team with other ACYR staff to benefit student outcomes.
The ACYR team builds pathways to success througheducation, skill building, and employment opportunities to help youth and young adults reach self-sufficiency. The team plays a crucial role in promoting a culture ofinclusion, positivity, growth mindset, and hospitality by offering high-energy educational activities and services that create a welcoming environment. Every member of the team is charged to build trusting relationships with youth and adults to maintain continued support in pursuing their educational and occupational goals.
Our team is an integral resource connecting our community to broader institutions of society and spreading/demonstrating the mission of ACYR.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (required)
Experience teaching/working with youth and adult learners is a must.
Knowledge of adult student characteristics and adult basiceducationcontent areas.
Ability to instruct students in the use of basic technology and applications to integrate into instruction.
Experience working with opportunity youth and adults at a nonprofit organization, in an educational setting or classroom preferred.
Bi-lingual/Bi-cultural preferred.
Strong communications skills are critical, both verbally and in writing.
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to commit toteamworkand establish effective working relationships.
Demonstrate interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective working relationships.
Willingness to consistently display apositive attitudeand image of the agency, as well as provide high quality, effective customer service in all facets ofcommunication.
Must consistently engage in professional and personal development.
Key Result Areas
Follow ACYR AdultEducationprocedures for attendance, student enrollment, assessments, curriculum, and classroom instruction, and management.
Provide effective classroom management and instruction.
Develop community partnerships, engagement, and retention strategies to meet participants’ needs.
Support the vision and direction of ACYR’s Administration Team.
Background Check
Background check will consist of reference checks, employment,education, and criminal background search. ACYR is an at-will employer and any offer of employment with ACYR is contingent upon a successful completion of said background check.
Certification/Licenses/Other Requirements
Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card. Valid Arizona Driver’s License. Requires use of insured personal vehicle for agency business.
