Summary:
The Adult and Community Programs Coordinator is responsible for creating and implementing a diverse range of scholarly and engaging programs for adult and community audiences. As a key member of the Education department, the coordinator communicates effectively with a variety of audiences, including program partners, visiting authors, scholars, and visitors. This position will focus on coordinating logistics, maintaining budget, scheduling, and execution of all adult and community programs.
The coordinator will support the Head of Education with the assessment of the public programs to ensure profitability and satisfaction.
Essential Responsibilities:
Create, implement, and evaluate adult and community programs for onsite and offsite audiences, including book talks, film screenings, gallery talks, lectures, panel discussions, symposiums, and more.
Initiate and support relationships with community partners.
Serve as the onsite primary point of contact for adult and community programs; ensuring setup, breakdown, and run of show operate smoothly.
Manage logistics for all adult and community programs including calendar and staff updates, reserve gallery space, presenter travel, etc.
Maintain accurate data records to determine program impact and provide monthly reports to department head and leadership.
Assist in the preparation of grant requests and funding from local, state, national, or private sources.
Coordinate with the Education Manager and Marketing Manager on advertisements and digital signage for adult and community programs.
Assist colleagues and present content to various audiences at Education programs as needed.
Assist with the development and maintenance of the education department budget.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree preferred with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in museum education.
Familiarity with current pedagogical strategies.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to present information in a variety of formats to a variety of audiences.
Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrate ability to be creative, adaptive, and manage multiple projects.
