Full Job Description
As directed, the Adoptions Lead is responsible for the front end day-to-day operations of the HSSA Adoption lobby. The Adoptions Lead will work closely with the Adoptions Supervisor in the responsibility for the placement of pets into safe and caring homes through HSSA’s adoption programs.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of HSSA’s adoption program at main campus, during the absence of the Adoptions Supervisor
Assists the Adoptions Supervisor for the placement of pets into safe and caring homes through HSSA’s adoption programs
Is able to accept and explain the concept of prepubescent sterilization, prerelease sterilization of adopted animals, and humane euthanasia
Suggest animals for showcasing opportunities at other offsite locations and/or events
Sets and maintains high standards of customer service and excellence; must possess genuine empathy and compassion for both animals and humans
Keeps work area clean and well organized
Coordinates staff to complete proactive assessments of customer needs to increase positive pet/customer matches and increasing likelihood of keeping pets in homes
Provide welcoming service by greeting and assisting guests, and responding to guest inquiries and complaints to ensure excellent levels of customer service are maintained at all times
Provides direction and ensures all staff are providing quality customer service internally and externally
Responsible for the daily cash handling operations, including credit card transactions and bookkeeping. Responsible for closing duties in adoptions to ensure proper paperwork is turned into Finance daily
Be familiar with PAWSH merchandise and be able to recommend appropriate items to guests and their pets
May drive shelter vehicle in performance of shelter business/adoption events
Working Conditions: Work is performed at an animal shelter in lobby/kennel/cat room areas. Potential exposure to zoonotic diseases, dangerous and fractious animals, high noise levels, hazardous chemicals, and sharp objects. Field conditions may be encountered. Able to lift up to 50 lb., long periods of standing, bending, stooping, reaching and working outdoors in differing climates and animal handling and restraint in animal shelter setting. Potential exposure of infectious diseases to owned animals. Able to handle all sizes and activity levels of animals.
