Join the Yeti Crew! UpaDowna is hiring a part-time Activity Leader for our Private Events including family hikes and paddleboarding classes. This position will primarily lead weekly Tuesday evening family hikes in the Wolf Ranch neighborhood and private paddleboarding classes in the Wolf Ranch neighborhood and at Quail Lake Park on weekday and weekend mornings from June to September. Starting Hourly Rate: $15/Hour

Job Responsibilities:

Lead engaging, inclusive hikes and paddelboarding classes for participants of various ages and skill levels from June to September, ensuring a safe and enjoyable outdoor experience for all.

Create a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages active participation program attendees and volunteers.

Ensure the safety of all participants by adhering to UpaDowna’s safety policies, identifying potential risks, and addressing them proactively.

Conduct pre-activity safety briefings, monitor participants throughout activities, and provide first aid if necessary.

Share information about local trails, Leave No Trace principles, and the importance of environmental stewardship, inspiring participants to care for natural spaces.

Act as an ambassador for UpaDowna, promoting its mission and fostering positive relationships with participants, partners, and the community.

Work closely with UpaDowna Program Coordinator, Executive Director, and volunteers to coordinate program logistics and ensure high-quality delivery.- Maintain accurate records of attendance and program outcomes for reporting purposes.

Support other UpaDowna programs and events as needed while contributing to a positive team enviornment by haring ideas and collaborating on new initiatives.

Requirements:

Available Tuesday evenings from June to mid-September at 6pm to lead family hikes in the Wolf Ranch neighborhood.

Available June 8 and August 17 from 9am-3pm to co-lead paddleboarding classes in the Wolf Ranch neighborhood.

Available June 29, July 20, and August 3 to co-lead paddleboarding classes at Quail Lake Park.

Shifts outside these hours may also be available to lead or assist with other private events and UpaDowna Programs.

Minimum age is 18.

First Aid/ CPR certified or willing to obtain certification prior to leading activity.

Passion for connecting community members to nature and fostering a love for the outdoors.

Reliable transportation to and from various parks and trailheads in El Paso County.

Able to work outside in various weather conditions.

Able to lead hikes for up to 2 miles.

Able to lift up to 25lbs.

Willing to complete background check.

Desired Skills & Abilities:

Experience paddleboarding and knowledge of water safety. ACA Level 1 SUP Instructor Certification preferred, but not required.

Previous outdoor leadership or experience in nonprofits.

Previous experience working with large groups of various backgrounds.

Passion for connecting individuals to the outdoors and outdoor activities.- Knowledge of basic outdoor skills, local flora and fauna, and environmental education.- Experience using Google Suite.
