About the role
- We’re looking for an Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day delivery across a portfolio of client engagements. You’ll coordinate people, priorities, and timelines to ensure accurate, on-time accounting outcomes, and you’ll step in hands-on when needed to keep work moving.
- This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining strong technical accounting skills with practical project coordination and clear communication in a client-service environment.
What you’ll do
- Coordinate delivery across multiple concurrent engagements, ensuring work is planned, assigned, and completed to agreed timelines.
- Support client transitions (onboarding and offboarding) by organizing access requirements, documentation, and handover materials so delivery starts smoothly and ends cleanly.
- Provide technical accounting guidance to team members and help resolve complex or time-sensitive issues that could impact deadlines or quality.
- Maintain proactive communication with clients about progress, upcoming deadlines, and required inputs; document decisions and next steps.
- Review key outputs for quality and completeness, and help standardize working papers and documentation so files are consistent and audit-ready.
- Monitor engagement effort against planned resourcing; flag risks early and help adjust plans when requirements change.
- Contribute to internal process improvements by updating templates, checklists, and simple standard work that improves consistency and efficiency.
- Step in to support hands-on bookkeeping/accounting tasks when required (e.g., reconciliations, month-end close support, clean-up tasks).
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years of accounting experience (or equivalent), with experience managing multiple files/engagements in parallel.
- Experience in an accounting firm or client-service setting is a strong asset.
- Strong understanding of month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Clear, professional communication skills and the ability to set expectations and keep stakeholders aligned.
- Strong organization and follow-through; comfortable juggling deadlines and shifting priorities.
- Process-minded: able to document workflows and drive adoption of consistent practices.
- Experience working with the nonprofit sector is desirable.
- CPA designation is desirable (or actively pursuing).
- Growth mind set and an strong interest in exploring and adapting new technologies.

- Hybrid/remote within Canada, with occasional in-person meetings or client visits as needed.
