Position Summary: Reporting to the Executive Director, the Accounting Manager plays a vital role in advancing SURVIVORS’ mission by ensuring strong, ethical, and transparent financial stewardship. This position oversees all accounting and financial operations for a growing organization with an annual budget of approximately $3M.

The Accounting Manager partners closely with leadership and program teams to build efficient, compliant, and sustainable financial systems that support survivor-centered programs and long-term organizational impact.

Key Responsibilities

· Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, compliance, audits, and tax filings

· Ensure adherence to GAAP, regulatory requirements, and funder guidelines

· Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes; analyze variances and share clear, actionable insights

· Prepare and present timely monthly, annual, and ad hoc financial reports for leadership and the Board

· Manage grants and program accounting, ensuring accurate expense allocation, compliance, and reporting for government, corporate, and foundation funders

· Coordinate annual audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors

· Monitor cash flow and support the financial sustainability of programs

· Collaborate with program staff to align financial practices with mission-driven operations

· Support and coordinate select HR, payroll, and benefits functions

· Continuously improve systems and processes, with a focus on efficiency, automation, and scalability

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field

· At least 5 years of accounting and finance experience; nonprofit or NGO experience strongly preferred

· Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and month- and year-end close processes

· Experience with grants management, including compliance and reporting requirements

· Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Excel, and cloud-based financial tools (e.g., Bill.com)

· Experience coordinating audits and managing budgets, forecasts, and cash flow

· Highly organized, detail-oriented, and analytically strong

· Collaborative communicator able to translate financial information for non-finance audiences

· Technology-savvy, with experience improving or implementing financial systems

· Deep commitment to SURVIVORS’ mission and to supporting survivors with integrity and care
