Main Purpose of the Position:
The Coordinator of Grants and Communication is a forward-facing position that requires flexibility, multitasking,
and time management skills. They will provide a vital role in supporting the organization’s grant development,
communications, fundraising, and community engagement efforts.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Identifying, applying for, and securing grants from corporate, foundation, and private donors
- Serving as a representative of GEC at community events. Working to build relationships within the community, secure new sponsors and supporters
- Using their technological and creative knowledge to develop a fresh and vibrant social media presence, promoting GEC’s mission and connecting us to the community
- Assisting with the concept development and design of promotional materials and other communications used both for GEC membership and promoting our image in the public sphere
- Maintaining a grants calendar with application and reporting deadlines
- Preparing grant reports and ensuring compliance with grant requirements
- Tracking grant outcomes and maintaining supporting documentation
- Monitoring and analyzing social media engagement and recommending improvements
- Coordinating photography and storytelling to highlight GEC programs
- Assisting with annual reports
The Coordinator of Grants and Development will also work closely with the Assistant Executive
Director of Development to:
- Be integral in the development of marketing materials, including online and print media
- Modernize workflow in the Development office, including the conversion of past event data to a digital format
- Manage and update GEC’s donor and grant databases
- Create financial reports related to events and other fundraising efforts in a timely manner
- Develop relationships to secure new sponsors and supporters
- Improve donation and payment methods to streamline giving
- Developing website content and keeping agency information current
- Creating newsletters, email campaigns, and donor communications
- Assist with execution of special events and fundraising campaigns
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Creative, outgoing, and energetic personality
- Knowledge of and ability to use electronic software including Excel, Word, Canva, and Donor Perfect
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally
- Knowledge and understanding of GEC’s mission and philosophy
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with agency team
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of two years’ experience in a relevant role (grant writing, marketing, fundraising)
- Experience working in a non-profit organization preferred
