The MetroWest Mediation Services Local Consumer Program (LCP) is a program designed to effectively resolve consumer complaints with businesses. We are a part of a state-wide network of LCPs who work in cooperation with the MA AGO. We provide free and voluntary resolution services on behalf of consumers when they have a dispute or problem with a business. We also provide consumer protection information and resources to enrich the community. MetroWest Mediation Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping our community resolve conflict constructively. We provide an opportunity for people in conflict to have difficult conversations with the help of non-judgmental mediators. Mediation allows everyone involved to talk about their experiences, be heard by each other, and establish a plan on how to move forward productively. We provide a range of dispute resolution services including mediation, conciliation, facilitation, and training. Serving the MetroWest District Courts, Juvenile Courts, Probate & Family Court, as well as community disputes, we mediate over 400 cases per year and provide consumer dispute services in over 1,000 cases per year. Founded in 1979, MetroWest Mediation has been serving the community for over 40 years. Even with our organization’s long track record, we maintain a “start-up” attitude and believe we can do big things in the world of conflict resolution!

Member Duties : A Consumer Specialist (CS) is responsible for a caseload of consumer complaints received from the Attorney General’s Office, typically between 5-20 cases at any given time. CS conducts consumer assistance and dispute resolution services via phone and email to resolve individual consumer complaints. CS monitors and responds to correspondences sent from either consumer or business, including any other agencies involved and keeps detailed case notes immediately and contemporaneously as each case progresses. CS also provides consumer information, resources, education and assistance to the public, referrals to legal aid resources and or governmental agencies. CS also researches business background and applicable local, state and federal laws for each case.
